Our

History

- In 2008, Gilbert S. Mouawad, an educator and musician from Zgharta, North Lebanon, founded a humble music school in collaboration with his friend Michel Acolat, named Acolat de Musique.

- By 2011, recognizing the need to elevate music education, the school expanded and was rebranded as Ecole d'Art et de Musique (EAM).

- In 2014, a new branch was opened in Kfarsaroun Koura, followed by a summer school in Ehden in 2016.

- EAM was officially recognized by the Ministry of Education under decree 143 on 17 February 2017.

- EAM continued to grow, opening a branch in Batroun in 2018, franchising to Dekwene Beirut, and launching an online learning system in 2019.

- In 2021, EAM expanded internationally with a branch in Erbil, Iraq, named "بيت الفن والموسيقى."

- In 2024, EAM became a Trinity College London examination center (N.73119) and launched the first technology-friendly music school in the MENA region, named Ecole d'Art et de Musique NewGen, in Byblos, Jbeil.

EAM

Founder

Gilbert S. Mouawad was born in Zgharta, a small town in North Lebanon. His passion for music began at age 13, but he soon realized that the outdated curriculum and teaching methods were not what he had hoped for. Determined to pursue a richer education, he moved to Beirut, where he earned a teaching diploma in Music Education from the Lebanese University of Beirut in 2007, while also studying at the Lebanese National Institute of Music. In 2016, he completed his Master of Arts in Music at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and continued to enhance his education through workshops in Lebanon, Italy, and France.

In 2023, Gilbert received a Ph.D. with high distinction in Music from USEK after winning the National Doctoral Research Day in Lebanon and conducting research at Grenoble University in France. That same year, he also earned a diploma in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the American University of Beirut. Throughout his journey, Gilbert's dream was to make music education accessible to all in Lebanon, particularly in the North. This dream led to the founding of Ecole d’Art et de Musique, a school that has become a safe haven for students to express themselves and grow artistically and personally, in a country where artistic and music education is greatly needed.
